In a few days, a festival for Asian, 17th Asian Games will be held in Incheon. Since it is held in South Korea, attention from all Koreans will be necessary in order to make it a successful event. Now, let's find out the schedule for the games.
The competition will be held from September 19th to October 14th, 2014, for 16 days, and the opening ceremony will be carried out at Incheon Asiad Stadium, South Korea. Approximately 13,000 athletes from 45 countries will participate in total of 36 games including both Olympic and non-olympic items. If you are a fan of sports, you will be interested in all of the games, but I think the most popular ones will definitely be football and baseball. I personally look forward to watching those two as well.
By the way, let me introduce this year's Asian Game mascots, three seal brothers and sisters.
They are so cute! Barame, Chumuro, Vichuon? What do these mean?
Actually, every name has a meaning. They are not named randomly.
The first seal, Vichuon means light— it means to shine the light of hope all over the world.
The second seal named Brame came from a Korean word, Baram which means the wind—to show passion and challenging spirit like the power of wind.
The last seal, Chumuro's name came from a Korean word Chum, 'dance'—to deliver the beauty of the Korean tradition with amusement through the culture and games of Incheon city.
Now, I am going to introduce Incheon main stadium where the opening ceremony will be held.
The stadium looks very magnificent and awesome. If you visit in person, it will be more amazing than in the photo. Incheon Asian Games will take place with the slogan, “Breath of Peace, Future of Asia”. It is to gather all the diverse cultures, history, tradition, and religions in Asia pursuing peace of all mankind and to make a bright future for Asia as one, through friendship and harmony.
But, I wonder even though the Asian games hoping for peace is on for the 17 time, why are wars and murders still happening in many countries?
It makes me think 'Can events like Asian games really bring peace to this world?'.
Maybe there might be other ways that can achieve peace.
So, I was surfing the internet about the Asian Games and then, I found IPYG. This group works for world peace with practical activities. I found out that they’ve held peace walk in Philippines, Korea and other countries. People in the pictures look so bright and happy as if they’ve already gotten true peace in their minds.
I think that this organization, IPYG could bring about peace in the world. As one who loves peace, I feel like I am getting more interested in this group and I want to look forward to hearing good news from them.
